About Bowen Therapy
Tom Bowen, the founder of Bowen Therapy lived and practiced in Australia. The therapy is based on the recognition that the underlying cause or source of many musculoskeletal, neurological, neuromuscular and other health or pain conditions can be found in the soft tissue or fascia of the body. This highly effective, holistic technique has achieved remarkable results over the past 50 years and consistently shown relief for many health conditions. Fascial (connective tissue) dysfunction can affect every structure, muscle, nerve and organ in the body. By stimulating receptors within the autonomic nervous system directly, Bowen therapy enables
Bowen Therapy is increasingly used by sports professionals to help them recover more quickly from injuries.
Bowen Therapy is an effective treatment for all types of back, neck and shoulder issues including disc problems and curvature of the spine.
the body to heal itself quickly, correct dysfunctions and restore homeostasis (balance) on a holistic level, treating the cause rather than the symptoms. The treatment consists of a series of gentle moves with frequent pauses allowing the body to respond and integration to occur. The principal benefit of Bowen treatments are often rapid and long term or permanent remission of pain, reduced stress, greater mobility and improved physical and emotional quality of life. The treatment may target a specific problem, chronic or acute presenting conditions or the body as a whole.
Bowen Therapy has been proven to alleviate repetitive strain injuries and carpal tunnel without the need of surgery.
Bowen Therapy can give very effective relief by treating the root cause and by balancing the body's hormones.
What to expect
After meeting the therapist, the client history and other relevant information is recorded and an assessment is made of the presenting condition. The therapist will initially make primary basic moves and then follow with a series of specific rolling moves across fascia or soft tissue associated with particular muscle groups, tendons, ligaments or nerves.
Pauses are included between each series of moves, allowing the body to respond, integration to occur and the healing process to commence. During these intervals the therapist may leave the room.
Bowen Therapy can be carried out directly on the body or through light and loose clothing. On completion of the treatment the client, who often already feels much better, will be advised of possible physical or emotional changes which may occur (these confirm that the treatment has started to work) with post treatment recommendations or activities, and be invited to provide feedback on outcomes.
Subsequent consultations will include a review of progress, possible reassessment and further advanced or refined procedures.

What clients are saying:
Suffering from chronic back and knee pain caused by decades of dancing, I was able to walk out of my initial Bowen treatment, feeling pain free and having my first full night’s sleep in over 8 years. After 3 treatments, I was able to walk without pain or discomfort on a regular basis and continue to sleep soundly.
After my first few Bowen treatments, my constant body pain was gone. This means so much to me as Bowen has given me the means to continue my active lifestyle. I do a lot of sports and sometimes suffer re-injuries , however after just one or two treatments I always experience a quick and long lasting recovery, it just keeps on working... Thank you for introducing me to this amazing therapy.
Working online, I developed carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists that I thought would never go away without having to resort to steroids or injections. My friend referred me to Bowen therapy, I was skeptical at first, but after only one visit, my wrists are fully healed. I highly recommended trying this therapy.
